Reporting a Lost Driver’s License

Here are the essential documents required and conditions to reissue your driving license
If you are a European citizen with permanent residency in Greece, you can apply for a replacement license at your local Transport and Communications Service office. When you apply to get driver’s license replaced, you will need to provide the following documents
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
- Application and Solemn Declaration (form M70).
- Application to print a new driving license.
- Pay €30 to the National Bank of Greece for the first time, or €60 for any further replacements due to loss or theft.
- Pay €30, €30, and €9.02 on www.taxisnet.gr.
- Tax Identification Number (TIN).
- Copy of your ID card or passport.
CONDITIONS
You must be
- Live in Greece.
- Have a Greek or EU driving license (or from Norway, Iceland, or Liechtenstein).
- Not hold any other license of the same type from Greece or the EU (including Norway, Iceland, or Liechtenstein).
- Be old enough for the driving license category, if your license is from another EU country or the above three countries.
When replacing a lost or stolen driver’s license, you generally won’t need to retake the knowledge test or driving test. Non-EU Citizen with Normal Residence in Greece
If you’re a non-EU citizen with permanent residency in Greece, you will need to follow a slightly different process to replace your lost license.
Here’s what you’ll need to do:
Contact your country’s embassy or consulate in Greece. They will advise you on the steps you need to take to obtain a replacement license.
In most cases, you will need to apply for a new license from your home country. The embassy or consulate will be able to provide you with the necessary application form and instructions.
- If you are not a Greek citizen, a copy of your valid residence permit or another document issued at least 185 days before the application (or 95 days for EU citizens, including Norway, Iceland, or Liechtenstein).
- Official document from the country that issued foreign driving license, along with a translation, to confirm all details and that it hasn’t been taken away due to penalties.
- A translation of your foreign license from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or a lawyer.
- One (1) recent passport-sized photo.
Non-Resident Who Lost a Driver’s License While on a Holiday
If you’re a non-resident who lost your driver’s license while on holiday in Greece, you unfortunately won’t be able to get a replacement license in Greece. You can still drive in Greece using your valid foreign driver’s license along with an International Driving Permit (IDP).
